Who Is The Aimless Cook?
My name is Jay del Corro. I have been cooking as a profession on and off for almost 30 years. I started my YouTube channel, The Aimless Cook back in 2009 as a hobby while I was working part-time at a Japanese kitchen and full-time at the post office. As my YouTube addiction started to grow, so did my audience. I love teaching people how to cook and I love sharing recipes from all over the world.
Fast forward to about 2012 when I had the opportunity to start a restaurant for one day a week at a local summer Farmer’s Market. At first I was hesitant to do it, but decided, “What the hell…”
I was hooked. Since that time, we’ve had a food truck, worked countless events, night markets, and pop-ups. Our current location of Eats of Asia is located in Calgary, Alberta at the Crossroads Market. I have the pleasure of working with my own kids as well as mentor the young people that work the line with me. A few have moved on to culinary post-secondary education and are pursuing careers in the food and hospitality industry. I still teach in the form of high school demos that I do from time to time, but my true calling is coming back to YouTube where it all started.
This new website for 2020 is not so much a rebirth as it is coming full circle. Thank you for your love and support through the years. Let’s have fun in the kitchen.
